| A new Norfolk Broad - A new destination |
|
Towards the end of the Victorian period the first boat yard offering wherries and yachts was opened. Today the broads support 65 boat yards hiring out boats to more than a million visitors per year. However with so many visitors significant pressure has been applied to the surrounding natural environment. Due to this, restrictions have been implemented and only 13 broads are open to navigation. In the creation of a lake and wetlands, we are also looking to provide boating facilities which would alleviate existing pressure at the other 13 broads. Further plans are to provide a well stocked lake for fishing, bird hides for admiring the natural wildlife, cycle paths and nature trails, an obstacle course and an animal farm for children and in order to provide refreshments, cafés, restaurants and bars are to be provided. All of these aspects create a thriving tourist attraction leaving excellent commercial implications, including new businesses, greater employment opportunities and increased local revenue. |
